Faculty Excellence

The Challenge

Faculty shortage is an obstacle to expanding the nation's nursing workforce and meeting healthcare demands. Increasing job competition (salaries and autonomy) from clinical sites contribute to this crisis.

The US has seen a decline in Ph.D. prepared nurse scientists over the past decade.  Without Ph.D. prepared nurse faculty and researchers, educational programs cannot recruit students nor generate the science to inform evidence-based practice.

The Solution

Focus on recruiting a diverse faculty with competitive recruitment packages to make MUSC the institute of choice. Retain current faculty with strategies around recognition, naming opportunities and funding for professional development to support career growth, job satisfaction and professional success.

Principal Initiatives

  • Start Up and Retention Packages
  • Faculty Awards and Recognition
  • Endowed Chair, Distinguished Professorship, and Eminent Scholar
  • Funding for post doctorates and fellows
  • Funding for professional development and research

How To Help

The MUSC College of Nursing raises philanthropic funds to address the dire shortage of nurses. But we cannot do it alone. We need your help.
