Pet therapy program supported by MUSC employees spreads joy and comfort to patients and staff

Pet Therapy Dogs

Seeing one of MUSC’s pet therapy dogs will make you smile. Petting or hugging one will make your stress melt away. That’s powerful medicine for both patients and staff members.

MUSC employees who give to the Pet Therapy Program help cover the cost of training and necessary supplies, like hand sanitizer. In training, human and dog volunteers learn how to safely work with patients and navigate hospital hallways and elevators.

Thank you for making it possible for our 84 pet therapy volunteers and their 93 dogs to spread joy and comfort across campus! As Pet Therapy Program Coordinator Cathy Bennett says, you’re pretty “p-awesome.”
