The MUSC James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine is home to 344 students who have chosen to dedicate their lives to our profession. Of these, 81 percent depend on financial aid to help pay for their educations.
The College is working to raise funds for three scholarships, each of which honors an important figure in our school’s history and each of which serves a difference purpose:
The College’s 13-year dean is honor with this award which is merit-based. Dr. Haisten was perhaps best known as someone who cared deeply for his students, providing them with advice, encouragement, and even the occasional loan – sometimes out of his own pocket.
Give to the Arthur L. Haisten Scholarship
This fund was created in honor of the College’s first African-American graduate, who for more than 40 years served as a role model for minority dental students and helped many matriculate through our dental program.
Give to the George McTeer Endowed Scholarship
Mr. Tetrick was the College’s longtime maintenance supervisor, a man so devoted to the College and its students that his wife created this scholarship in his memory to benefit countless future generations. This scholarship is need-based.
Give to the Harry H. and Adela N. Tetrick Endowed Scholarship
Please consider helping the College grow these important scholarship resources though a current donation or by pledging a recurring contribution.
Scholarships are available to second, third, and fourth year dental students. All scholarship applicants are welcome regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or other protected class.”
